Messy but Grateful

Happy Bibliotherapy Thursday! May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Sunday is Mother’s Day, so in honor of both, this week’s pick is Messy but Grateful: A daily gratitude journal for moms just released by my very good friend and fellow therapist Jacalyn Wetzel.

As a mom living with ADHD who never found a gratitude journal that fit her life, Jacalyn decided to create one and share it with other moms who might be in a similar boat. The book is laid out in sections over 45 days, including “Morning Pages” where you can set intentions for your day, and “Daily Review” where you can reflect that evening on the events of the day and check in with your emotions. There are also great pages at the beginning and end that can help support you in your journey to practice gratitude. It’s the kind of book that even when you finish filling it out, you’ll find yourself pulling it out on tough days to help give you a little reminder.

While the whole book is brilliantly laid out, the very best part is the fact that each day, Jacalyn offers words of validation and comfort in her own hilarious words. For those of us who struggle to keep consistent with a habit like journaling, looking forward to reading her down-to-earth and relatable insights will have you reaching for the book every morning. Reading it feels like you’re on the phone with your best friend while sipping your morning coffee, all while taking a little time to yourself to focus on what matters to you. I can’t think of a better way to start the day!

You can find Messy but Grateful in print on Amazon.

Morning Light doesn’t receive compensation for sharing book recommendations, nor do we receive a commission if you choose to buy the book. We just love them and think some of our clients may find them useful!
